Day 1 – Ribeira and river
- Ribeira waterfront, Dom Luis Bridge
Walk along the Douro and Ribeira. Cross to Gaia for port cellar visits. Evening in Ribeira or Vila Nova de Gaia.
Tips:
Book a port tasting in advance. Wear comfortable shoes for cobbles.
Day 2 – Tiles and Livraria Lello
- Sao Bento station, Livraria Lello, Clerigos Tower
Morning at Sao Bento and Livraria Lello. Clerigos Tower for views. Afternoon Bolhao Market and cafes. Dinner in Cedofeita or Ribeira.
Tips:
Livraria Lello can get busy; go early. Tram line 1 goes to the river.
Day 3 – Gaia cellars or Douro day trip
- Port cellars or Douro Valley
More port tastings in Gaia, or a day trip into the Douro Valley. Last stroll and departure.
Tips:
Douro day trips by train or boat are rewarding; book ahead in season.
